How does Passwords Work

Hello, Friends

Today I am gonna tell you How does your password Stored on the Internet

There are a number of ways a site can store your password, and some are considerably more secure than others.

Method One: Plain Text Passwords

How It Works: The simplest way a site can store your password is in plain text. That means somewhere on a their server, there exists a database with your username and password in it in a human readable form (i.e, if your password is "testing123", it is stored in the database as "testing123"). When you enter your credentials on the site, it checks them against the database to see if they match. This is the worst possible method, in security terms, and most reputable web sites do not store passwords in plain text. If someone hacks this database, everyone's password is immediately compromised.

Method Two: Basic Password Encryption

How It Works: To add more protection to your password than plain text provides, most sites encrypt your password before they store it on their servers. Encryption, for those of you that don't know, uses a special key to turn your password into a random string of text. If a hacker were to get hold of this random string of text, they wouldn't be able to log into your account unless they also had the key, which they could then use to decrypt it.

Method Three: Hashed Passwords

How It Works: Hashed is similar to encryption in the sense that it turns your password into a long string of letters and numbers to keep it hidden. However, unlike encryption, hashing is a one way street. If you have the hash, you can't run the algorithm backwards to get the original password. This means a hacker would have to obtain the hashes and then try a number of different password combinations to see which ones worked.

Method Four: Hashed Passwords with a Dash of Salt

How It Works: Salting a hash means adding a random string of characters is called a "salt"—to the beginning or end of your password before hashing it. It uses a different salt for each password, and even if the salts are stored on the same servers, it will make it very hard to find those salted hashes in the rainbow tables, since each one is long, complex, and unique. LinkedIn is famous for not using salted hashes, which brought them under a lot of scrutiny after their recent hack—If they had  used salts, their users would have been safer.

These were the basic methods that I know used for password storage on Internet.

How to make website for free

Making a website is very simple and is very convenient if you wanna expand your business....

There are many ways to make a website....and most of them are very expensive....

So, the question is how to make a website for free?

But lets start from Basics.......

Making of website requires two things:-

  • A Domain....i.e,  (site name) .com .in .uk .co .org etc
  • and Hosting server....(where you save your website data and which runs 24 hours)

  • Well if you don't wanna make a bulky site or just wanna impress your friends.I recommend to a make a webpage instead....

There are many free site which will provide to make a free website or webpage and even a blog like this....
    They are:-
    •  http://www.blogger.com  (Great for newbies)
    • http://www.wordpress.com (Great for newbies)
But  there is catch.....Actually there are two catches....

1.You don't get your favourite domain here but a sub-domain

    What's Sub-domain?

As you can see here that i am using bloggers......in the url/address bar there is line ".blogspot"
    That's a sub-domain......

2.You don't get enough space or place to store stuff....

I mean if you are thinking like hell yeah i am gonna make a site and upload all my pc files to net then think again....there are many hosting free sites which will give maximum of 1gb storage and then they ask for money after 2-3 months....

Well if you wanna describe a product or express your thought to the world or your opinion to the world.....then i think blogger is your place buddy....

but then again blogger will provide you only 100mb space per post or per blog(I'm not sure about it)

So what if you don't have a product to sell.....then how the hell you gonna make money with that....

    Now that's a real question.....

Well you can use the power of affiliated programs......

If you have a Gmail account then my friend I will say its more than a account....

Google give the utmost opportunity to people who wanna make some bucks....

Well go for Google Adsense (It's free),.......and then you will place ads on your site......

The key for success in making money from affiliated programs is TRAFFIC...

    How to generate it?.......
Good question......Just wait for next post and then i will tell you

    Understand Two Things First:-

    • No one will give money for doing nothing
    • Setup of Online business takes time so if it's not working doesn't mean that you have failed...So don't give up
Well, the best way that i know to make money online is through "Affiliated Programs"  like

    • Youtube
    • blogger
    • clickbank
But, First Thing First........What is Affiliated Programs?

    Definition:-
Programs that involves two or more parties that work in a conjunction to provide certain level of benefit to each other.

                                                             OR

An automated marketing program where a Web advertiser or merchant recruits webmasters to place the merchant's banner ads or buttons on their own Web site.

Well, The simple way to explain this is that consider yourself as a SALESMAN.
I know it sounds horrible but the "Truth has been Spoken"
So, what does a salesman do?
Well, he sell products which is given by his company or do marketing in behalf of his company.

Well, you have to do the same thing.....

But the question remains the same.........How?

OK, tell me one thing......which is the number one search engine used by most people?

    Any guesses,

    Yup, its GOOGLE.....and Second ?

If you are thinking the second must be yahoo or bing then think again.....

OK, let me ask you again but in a different manner......which is world's largest video portal?

    It's Youtube

Believe me or not every minute somewhere someone is uploading video....

Why do you think they are doing this?

    To be Famous....

    Haha.......

No, they are making money out of it.....

    How?

    Through "Google ADSENSE"

    How does this work?

It's simple......remember that salesman stuff i told you a minute ago....

    Yeah...

Well adsense do the same thing.....it will give you ads for marketing.....
You can place ads on your own websites or you can also place ads on your youtube videos and on the sidebar....

That explains why every time i open a video on youtube there is an advertisement....

Ok,......I have told you the marketing part.....but what about selling part?

If selling your own product is the best way to make money online, then it should come as no surprise that selling someone else’s product is the second best way to make money online.

    How?

Clickbank.com is one of the most popular website for affiliates and it’s free to join. If you don’t have own product to sell then simply visit Clickbank.com and you can find thousands of products to promote as an affiliate. To promote a product you get a hoplink which contains your affiliate ID. When someone buys a product through your link, you earn instant commission. You get paid via check or direct bank transfer. There are tons of newbies out there who are doing this and making sustainable incomes.

There is so much to tell you......but now if i give you all info at one time, then your brain will be freeze out.......So wait for next post....until then join my group on facebook....(Businessman online)

Steps to help in keeping your PC Secure...

Before starting, I would like to tell you that please use Opensource software rather than downloading from Torrent.....

    Why?

First of all its illegal......and second the software you downloaded may contain viruses or trojans....

So its safe if you download Opensource software from a secure site....

    Let's get it started....

    • Install Anti-Virus software and ensure that it’s regularly updated.
In my opinion AVG is the best and as powerful as paid Anti-viruses software.

    • Anti-virus software isn't enough – It’s also a good idea to install firewall software (Good fences make good neighbors) which will help prevent unauthorized incoming and outgoing communications from your computer while connected to the Internet.
I know Microsoft already has a firewall but what if that firewall isn't strong enough....What if a Trojan is giving information to a unauthorized organisation/website without you even know it.
Then my friend you must upguard your fences with another firewall...so that no software can send or receive information without your knowledge. In my opinion ZoneAlarm is good enough plus you have your OS firewall...

    • Passwords protect the settings on the software so no-one else can alter protection levels.

    • Disconnect your computer from the Internet when not in use. The longer you are connected to the Internet, the more opportunity you give for persons to gain unauthorized access.

    • If your computer is used by others, carry out regular examination of the software on it and research any software that you discover that you haven’t installed yourself. It’s safest to make it a policy not to allow any software to be installed without your permission.

    • If you store usernames and passwords on your system, ensure they are contained in a document that is password protected. It is safest not to store any passwords on your computer.Try to avoid Windows “remember” passwords for you. Passwords should always be more than 8 characters long and include upper and lower case letters, numerals, symbols.

    • Back up your files and store them away from your computer. Frequent backups just make good sense. The more virulent types of attacks damage or infect your hard drive and you can lose valuable personal information. By backing up your data weekly you can help protect your important files, computer settings, and irreplaceable digital media.
